Aquata is a Southern mermaid from the Mako Pod and the older sister of Sirena. She is a member of the pod who always follows the rules.

Biography[]

Aquata is Sirena's older sister and a member of the Mako Pod.

She, along with the rest of the pod, abandoned Lyla, Sirena, and Nixie after they let a boy into the Moon Pool during a full moon. Despite this, Aquata has a very close relationship with her younger sister, Sirena, and, before leaving, even gives her sister her Moon Ring. Aquata is friends with her fellow mermaid Maya.

After the pod returned to Mako Island, she and her sister Sirena took a vacation to Hawaii to catch up after being separated for so long.

Physical appearance[]

Aquata is a beautiful adult mermaid. She has blonde hair, fair and smooth skin and pretty blue eyes. Her hair is braided with seashells (which is quite unusual for younger mermaids in her pod) and she has an orange-scaled tail with an orange-scaled top.

Mermaid Powers[]

As a mermaid, Aquata has the ability to swim at a super speed, and dive at depths no human being is capable of, completely protected from its cold and water pressure. She is also capable of holding her breath for at least fifteen minutes.

Aquata didn't display her powers, but like all mermaids born in the sea, she has all the regular and weather powers. Aquata also has the natural ability that all merpeople have to turn herself invisible.

Sirena also mentions that she loves to sing with her sister, suggesting that Aquata is also a Siren just like her sister. Aquata gave her younger sister Sirena her original Moon Ring when she fled with the Mako Pod. However, she herself proved worthy of deserving another, and the Mermaid Council gave her a second one.

Weaknesses[]

Aquata has all the typical weaknesses of a Southern mermaid. However, she is still susceptible to Mako's Moon Pool's well-being, meaning if it is destroyed or deprived of its powerful, magical Moon Water, she would perish and die with it.

Behind the scenes[]

She was portrayed by actress Jenna Rosenow.

Name[]

Aquata is a Latin name and the meaning is "water".
