The Lorelei is Louise Chatham's and her late husband's boat. Apparently it had been in very good shape in the past, however by the time it is introduced in the show, it is mainly kept in the marina and used as Miss Chatham's home. She and her husband bought the boat years later after they had married.
Miss Chatham's boat apparently caused Zane trouble in the past from jet ski scratches and dents. Zane eventually takes drastic action as revenge on Miss Chatham in "Shipwrecked" when he gets the harbor master involved.
The harbor master inspects her boat and finds it un-seaworthy, as it has rot in its structural frame work. In the night Louise Chatham sneaks on board the Lorelei and sails away.
The next day, Zane notices that this jet ski had been damaged again, and sets out to find Miss Chatham. Zane talks with Miss Chatham and accidentally makes her have a heart attack. Unsure what to do, Zane waits till Lewis and Emma arrive and take Miss Chatham to the hospital. Zane stays on-board the Lorelei to look for her treasure. However, he accidentally knocks over a lamp, which contains oil. The oil begins to drip onto the boat's hot engine and causes a big explosion. Emma and Lewis see the explosion and Emma dives into the ocean to save Zane.
The Lorelei starts to sink and Emma manages to save Zane from drowning. However, as Zane begins to black out he catches a glimpse of Emma's tail, which leads him to his great "Sea Monster Chase".
Believing that a "sea monster" was in that boat when he was about to faint, Zane starts having nightmares about it and is obsessed with the monster, making him drag Nate along to find it. When they scuba-dive to see the shipwreck Nate gets scared of the sharks and climbs back into the boat, while Zane continues and manages to see Emma as a "Mermaid with Red Hair".
He is obsessed with the idea of mermaids, eventually helping his father and Dr Denman to find and trap the sea creatures, who, of course, turn out to be Emma, Cleo, and Rikki.

- Currently Lorelei is shipwrecked in the seas around Mako Island.
- Before having Emma visit her on her boat in "Shipwrecked", she hadn't had guests over for 23 years.
- In German "Lorelei" means: Temptress'; A rocky cliff on the Rhine river dangerous to boat passage; the Lorelei whose singing lures men to destruction. which is fitting since Chatham is a mermaid.
